Scott D. Marshall


Calgary born and now Toronto- based saxophonist, composer, and arranger Scott Marshall is highly sought-after for his skills within the jazz community, film and television world, and Toronto jobbing scene. A skilled composer and arranger, Scott’s compositions have been featured on two releases by the original music group OUT OF ORDER, as well as his own releases: THE SCOTT MARSHALL TRIO “FACE IT,” THE SCOTT MARSHALL QUARTET “NINE MOMENTS OF TIME,” and THE SCOTT MARSHALL QUARTET “VIGNETTES.” He also co produced and arranged all the music for singer LYNE TREMBLAY’S cd “BREAK AND ENTER.” Marshall is a featured soloist and arranger on BILL STEVENSON’S East Coast Music award-winning cd “FOR THE RECORD,” and Juno award-winning ensemble NOJO featured Marshall on their recent release “NOJO EXPLORES THE DARK SIDE.”

In addition to recording Marshall has performed with a lengthy and diverse list of accomplished musicians including: Norah Jones, Johnny Mathus, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Bobby Caldwell, Persian superstar Shadmehr Aghilli, Denzel Sinclaire, The Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, Manteca, The Shuffle Demons, Hot Toddy, Bill Stevenson, Lyne Tremblay, Tom Swift, Out of Order, and the Juno-winning big-band NOJO, not to mention Wynton Marsalis stopping by to sit in with his quartet.

After completing his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas and moving to Toronto in 1999, Scott has been in high demand as an educator, working for the Toronto District School Board as well as teaching masterclasses for saxophone and improvisation. He is routinely hired for the Toronto School board’s Music by the Lake, and the University of New Brunswick‘s Summer Music Camp.
